OUR ROOTS

TODAY AS EVER: BASE CAMP ANNABERG

Some say that we in Annaberg in the Tennengau are a little pedantic - we are also said to be somewhat stubborn. But we take that as a compliment: individualism, a penchant for perfection and a firm belief in our own ideas and ideals are in our DNA. At least, that’s how it is at Martini. Founded by Martin Hornegger Sr. as a tailor for premium sports pants, our family business rose to the top ranks of the sporting world as the outfitter of the Austrian national ski jumping team. Now headed up by Lisa Moser-Hornegger, the second generation, it remains an innovative sports fashion label. Our founding values are the ones that still define us to this day: partnership, team spirit, fairness and transparency. Add to that a good amount of pioneering spirit, creativity and courage, and you have the mix that allows us to continue designing quality products here in Annaberg, manufacturing them almost exclusively in the EU and supplying them to sports enthusiasts all over the world. Independent and self-reliant, we remain unwaveringly true to the Martini style and walk our path with steadfast determination. We’re pedantic because we’re passionate.

HISTORY

OUR HOME HAS SHAPED Our SUCCESS STORY SINCE 1958.

The Martini story is one of constant innovation. It all began with a pair of sports pants - which, by the way, still form an important part of our sports collections for both men and women today. In 1958, Martin Hornegger Sr. opened a tailor’s shop for sports pants in Annaberg, Salzburg. His commitment to quality and attention to detail quickly gained him a reputation throughout the sporting world, and the news soon spread right up to the top ranks. Martin Hornegger Sr.'s sportswear went from strength to strength, and in the 1960s he produced jumpsuits for the Austrian national ski jumping team. At a legendary jumping event in Bischofshofen, three Austrians - all wearing Hornegger suits - took the gold, silver and bronze! Spectators celebrated the success, cheering "Martini, Martini!" - and the new company name was born.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS

In the late 1970s, Martini pioneered ground-breaking trends in skiing with its premium jet pants. The business continued to develop and innovate: new product development protocols were introduced and the next generation continued to push the boundaries when it came to innovative clothing technologies.

In 1991, the siblings Lisa Moser-Hornegger and Martin Hornegger took control of the company. With the two of them at the helm, as co-owners and managing directors, came fresh new perspectives and exciting developments for the brand.
